Nigeria: We Will not Fly into Kaduna over Planned Closure of Abuja Airport – Lufthansa

The management of Lufthansa Airline has told the Nigerian Government that it will not fly into Kaduna Airport following the government’s plan to close the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to traffic and redirect all international flights to Kaduna State.

According to the government of Nigeria, the closure is to carry out maintenance activities on the only airport in the capital city of Abuja. The implication of this closure is that travellers from different parts of the world going to Abuja will land in Kaduna and then take close to a 3 hours drive to Abuja.

The Kaduna-Abuja route has some security concerns relating to armed robbery, kidnapping and menace of terrorism by Bokoharam and this gives travellers a cause to worry about.

Similarly, the Nigerian Government said it plans to procure new trains along the Abuja Kaduna route in order to ease the stress and inconvenience that will follow the closure of the Abuja Airport.
